Area 20 Horse Trials Qualifier
The Area 20 horse trials qualifier at Kelsall Hill was a busy day for the club. We sent one junior individual, three senior novice teams, one senior intermediate team and two senior novice individuals. The helpers were put in charge of cross country starting, timing and scoring. Ali Kay was an impressively organised starter from 10.30am to 5.40pm. Thanks also to Andy Dorwood and Jan Yeomans, the cross country ran ahead of time for most of the day. Sue Griffiths, Fiona Saxby, Pauline Ford and Judith Childs took shifts in the scorers box and again did a fantastic job. Many thanks to all of these helpers who gave up their day, none of them actually compete at area level and we could not have sent any competitors without them.
The Delamere Oaks (senior novice team) – Alison Hancock, Holly Bradbury, Fran McNicol and Jo Ellis came 4th. Individually, Alison came 4th & Fran 6th in their sections. The other senior novice team, the Elms – Alison Arden, Caroline Childs, Paula Gwinnett and Ian Jones were only just unplaced and all went very well.
The individuals also had a good day but were unplaced. We had one flu vaccination certificate ‘hiccup’ which emphasises that the chef d’equipe needs to check a copy of the certificate before the day. The senior intermediate team were also unlucky not to be placed. Cheryl Booth, Julie Dorricott and Charmaine O’Connor were clear cross country, Mandy Hemming had an unfortunate technical elimination on the cross country, and Julie Dorricott came individual 3rd.
